About Me

Below is my original "About Me" spiel but it's been over two years since I've updated it and things have certainly changed. However, I want to keep the original post because it captures a moment in my life I remember vividly and I want to honor that time. I took the original picture down though because it was all sorts of cheesy..

When we first moved to Chicago I started working at Whole Foods Market in the Customer Service department in the hopes that some other position would open up that excited me and get me in the kind of kitchen I wanted to be in. Not the prepared foods kitchen...that kitchen is a beast of hustle and bustle and other people telling you what recipes to follow and you're making them in such large batches that the love of food is lost and cooking becomes WORK and I didn't want cooking to become something I didn't look forward to. So I choose to deal with customers in the front of the house which comes with its own set of problems, but alas! Two and half years later I got an email that Whole Foods was looking for a Chef Instructor to teach classes in their Cooking School. I JUMPED at the opportunity and I'm so happy to say that I got the position and biding my time has been worth every grumpy customer.

I hope this motivates you to keep working towards whatever fulfills you, in the end it's worth all the trouble. Thank you for reading this blog, please feel free to share your thoughts and your own recipes and tricks in the comment section. What I love most about cooking is that I'm constantly learning and I'll never know all there is to know because things are constantly evolving and we can learn so much from each other.

Original "About Me" section created January 2012

I grew up in the great state of Oklahoma in a small town that no one's ever heard of... Coweta (I told you you've never heard of it). I attended the University of Oklahoma where I met my husband dancing and singing around tables at Joe's Crab Shack (I guess he liked my Macarena). Eventually we stretched our wings and moved to Seattle where I began to discover my passion for all things food and drink related. We've recently relocated to Chicago after leaving Seattle and traveling abroad in SE Asia. My husband and I made a commitment to ourselves and each other that we would pursue our passions in the Windy City and see how things pan out. Thus "All Sauced UP" was created and Joel is flexing his improv muscles and loving every minute of it.

I hope to inspire and teach others how to cook good food and have fun doing it. So grab your favorite drink and join me in the kitchen, we'll enjoy this ride together.

Whitney
